Summer Drink Series: Spiked Blackberry-Sage Lemonade

Hello Darlings!

I have loved lemonade for as long as I can remember. However, as I’ve aged I like to think my tastes have become a bit more elegant (except you still can’t beat a box of Annie’s make and cheese- I’m not 100% adult, promise). So I’ve moved on from scooping instant lemonade to squeezing my own and creating more of a flavor profile.

What I Ate Wednesday: Fiber Choice 30 Day Get Picky Challenge

Hello Darlings!

You may have seen this post where I accepted the Fiber Choice 30 Day Get Picky Challenge of adding a fiber supplement into daily routine. Now that I’m nearing the end of the thirty days of the challenge I’d love to share my experience thus far, and how better to do that to show what I’ve been eating?!

Meatless Monday: Honey-Balsamic Glazed Figs & Homemade Whipped Cream

Hello Darlings!

It is fig season! *Does a little happy dance* I love figs, their versatility (did you see them as a pizza topping?), how robust their flavor is without being overpowering, and, of course, they are gorgeous to boot!

Summer Drink Series: Lavender-Peach Spritzer

Hello Darlings!

Now, I know I’m not in Georgia but I still think that the smell of peaches is summer’s perfume. Fresh, sweet, not too overpowering, it blends well with an incredible amount of things and yet is still perfect on its own. Its well documented here on Chickadee Says that lavender is one of my favorite flowers and my favorite flavors (if you follow me on Instagram you might notice I have a slight obsession with lavender kombucha) so, the combination of peaches and lavender, to me, is heaven. Add a bit of vodka, and you’ve got a party I most definitely want to attend.

Meatless Monday: Sautéed Vegetable Quinoa

Hello Darlings!

This summer has been crazy, and this upcoming week even more so! I am really bad about eating when I get super busy because I tend to graze- eating whatever is close by and easy rather than eating more nutritiously. So I decided to help myself out a bit and make big batches of delicious food so I have something quick to grab when I’m hungry that will both fill me and fuel me!

Summer Drink Series: Summer Citrus Sangria

Hello Darlings!

After I graduated from college I decided I didn’t want to be a full-fledged adult yet, so I bought a plane ticket to Spain and spent a few months in Barcelona before backpacking across Europe. I loved the culture of Barcelona, full of late night tapas bars, afternoon siestas, and street performers displaying spectacular costumes, there was always something new and exciting happening. The food and drink, mirrored the excitability of Barca’s residents, each day brought a new fantastic cocktail recipe and I fell in love with sangria, both traditional recipes and new-fangled craft-cocktail-esque variations as well!

What I Ate Wednesday: Blogger Perks

Hello Darlings!

I love being a blogger. Something that started out as just a hobby after I received a DSLR for Christmas in 2012 has turned into (as cheesy as it sounds) a way of life. I think the best part about blogging is the community. I love hearing from readers (like you!) about what you like, what you don’t like, things you want to see more of, and following along with your lives! I have met some amazing people both online and off, and had the chance to experience life in some pretty great places (::cough:: Blend Retreat ::cough::).

Do It Yourself: All Natural Makeup Brush Wash

Hello Darlings!

I have to admit, actually using makeup brushes other than for bronzer is fairly new to me. I had always used my fingers to apply everything from concealer to eye shadow and finally got on the brush wagon when I realized using my fingers in my makeup wasn’t exactly the most hygienic way to apply it. However, I have super sensitive skin that is particularly sensitive to chemicals (I can’t wear perfume because it irritates my skin!) so when it comes to keeping my brushes clean and sanitized I go all-natural!

I love that three simple ingredients can cleanse and sanitize my brushes. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, lavender oil naturally kills bacteria, and the white vinegar’s acidity helps to break down makeup stuck in the brushes!

Summer Drink Series: Homemade Vegan Iced Chai Latte

Hello Darlings!

So I know usually the summer drink series recipes involve alcohol, but I had a hankering for a chai latte and instead of spending the four dollars to grab one down the street I whipped up one of my own at home! The flavor of chai is all about the freshness of the spices, and I love mine extra spicy- so I used super fresh spices from fresh ginger to whole cardamom pods from Jiva Organics.

Fiber Choice Get Picky Challenge: Getting Started

Hello Darlings!

When it comes to my morning routine I very rarely deviate from my lemon water and vitamins go-to wake me up. However, when Fiber Choice reached out and asked me to join in their 30 Day Get Picky Challenge I was curious. Being mostly veggie fueled, I had always thought that I was getting enough fiber in my daily diet, but know I have been slacking on the healthy eating during these summer months.

So I did a little research before I agreed to take on the challenge.  I focused on two questions: 1. What kind of fiber is in Fiber Choice? And 2: How awful will they taste?
