Restore with the Niyamas: A Guatemalan Yoga Retreat

Hello Darlings!

I have some SUPER exciting news! ::Drumroll please:: I am cohosting a cant-miss-it restorative yoga retreat in Guatemala this September with an incredible yogi, who happens to be one of my close friends, April the owner and founder of Sacred Prana Yoga!

The seven-night retreat -that takes place September 12th through 19th - will focus on the Niyamas, the second branch of the 8 limbs in yoga. Each day our asana practice will focus on one of the five Niyamas, like detoxing for Saucha (cleanliness) or meditation for Santosha (contentment). With two (optional) yoga classes daily, an active flow practice and a restorative or Yoga Nidra practice, plus workshops and meditations, you’re sure to feel relaxed and rejuvenated!

So, yes, the retreat will be yoga-centric, but we are staying in a gorgeous family-run retreat center right on Lake Atitlan. I’ll leave it to April to explain the center: “Serendipitously situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Atitlan with an uninterrupted vista, punctuated only by a skyline of three perfect volcanoes, Villa Sumaya is the ultimate high for romantics and adventurers in search of rest, reflection and ageless natural beauty. The property has spacious gardens, exotic studio spaces, cafĂ©/bar, gift shop, spa, hot tub, sauna and outdoor pergolas that are all set beautifully in the natural surroundings. Our group will reside in the Lotus House. All of the gracefully appointed rooms have private baths featuring stone showers or built in bathtubs. Additionally the rooms offer stunning lake view balconies or glorious garden patios. The Tara Temple Yoga Studio is conveniently located on the top floor, offering a stunning 180-degree panoramic view of the volcano-accented skyline."

Can you get better than that? I think not. And with plenty of down time built into the schedule (an example day is below) you’ll have plenty of time to explore gorgeous (and safe!) Guatemala near Lake Atitlan.

So what does the retreat price include? The retreat is $1800 per person or $3400 for two people booking together.
  • Accommodations for 7 nights. All accommodations are shared with one or two other people.
  • Three vegetarian meals daily. Meals can be packed if you have plans outside of the retreat facility.
