Do It Yourself: All Natural Yoga Mat Cleaner

Hello Darlings!

Being a yoga instructor involves cleaning a lot of mats. Being a kids yoga instructor where you lug around your own mats involves cleaning lots of yoga mats at home that have been trampled on by children. So, instead of buying yoga mat cleaners that can be super expensive and have unpronounceable ingredients, I make my own all-natural cleaner that works wonders!

Ingredients:
- 1 Cup White Vinegar
- 3 Cups Water
- 1 Teaspoon Tea Tree Oil
- Optional: Eucalyptus Oil (3-10 drops depending on desired fragrance)

Supplies:
- Spray Bottle
- Microfiber Cloth

Preparation is easy- just combine all ingredients- and this recipe makes quite a bit of solution. If you’d like to make a smaller batch just use the 3:1 ratio of water to vinegar! Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic so is a necessity when creating a mat cleaner that you know will be used by children. I want to make sure I keep the kids healthy when teaching yoga, and stopping the spread of germs and bacteria does just that!

After you transfer your solution to a squirt bottle and save the remainder in an airtight container you are ready to go! A few sprays on each mat and a rubdown with a microfiber cloth is all you need for a wonderfully clean mat!

I drape my mats over chairs to let them air dry and diffuse the scent of vinegar more quickly, apparently Tinkerbelle thinks that these yoga mats are a cave!
