Autumn Drink Series: Chai Hot Toddy

Hello Darlings!

I am not a cold weather person- rather unfortunate, knowing that I live in Denver where winter sports are king. Don’t get me wrong, I love skiing and snowball fights, but after about an hour, I’m the one in a bikini and a furry hat sitting in the hot tub, sipping something piping hot, and being entirely too amused at my dragon’s breath. A hot toddy seems like the perfect drink to warm yourself up after a day in the cold, which apparently in Colorado, starts the first week of October (seriously snow this early? Not cool [pun intended.]) So, being the cold-weather baby that I am, I need something to stoke my internal fire; there is, after all, a reason that they call whiskey firewater!

Ingredients: (Makes Two)

- Two Chai Teabags
- 3 Ounces Whiskey (I used Johnny Walker Black)
- 2 Tablespoons Honey (I prefer raw)
- Lemon Wedges
- Water

Instructions:

1. Make your chai tea. Add your teabags to incredibly hot water (but not boiling!) and let steep. My teabags need to steep for 3-5 minutes, but check the instructions on your box.

2. Add a tablespoon of honey each to two jars (or mugs!).

3. Pour a 1.5 ounce jigger of whiskey into each jar.

4. Pour hot steeped tea to fill each remaining jar.

5. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

6. Enjoy!

Now, this Chai Hot Toddy is a kick in the pants; if you’re not a whiskey person make sure to add whiskey in increments to taste!
